Stephanotis Floribunda

Stephanotis Floribunda sometimes called Madagascar Jasmine is a princess of evergreen climbers – seriously, even her name Stephanos means ‘crown’ in Greek. 

Deep shining green foliage and fragrant, white, star-like, waxy flowers appear in clusters during Spring, Summer and Autumn – that’s practically all year round. The bees are going to love you.

She’s often used by florists in bridal work, even as a standalone bouquet because she’s just so beautiful and fragrant.

Stephanotis will climb up and over most garden structures, or up a ready-made trellis, and can be planted wherever the fragrance is appreciated. She loves to be in a hanging basket and send those classy leaves in a downward direction. 

We’d recommend her in seating areas, near your windows and doors, and along a garden path. She also does a great year-round job of covering an ugly shed, fence or dead tree. See? Fragrant yet practical. Told you she was special.

Quick Facts: 

• What to use me for: I’m a climber and I love scrambling up the trellis and over your garden structures. If you want to enjoy my pretty scent, place me near your garden bench.

• I grow to: I’ll reach six metres high. 

• I am currently:  I’m a baby climber at 10-15cms raring to go.

• Where to place me:  A partially shady spot, please. 

• How far to space me: Give us all a metre of space

• Soil Conditions: I like most fertile soils, but need a fair amount of moisture. Keep me well watered but not waterlogged. A feed of fertiliser each spring will help me produce the most fragrant flowers.
