The evergreen Rhaphiolepis Intermedia is more commonly known as White Indian Hawthorn, and itβs one of the most reliable hedging shrubs around.
This is an evergreen, rounded shrub that will grow to a pleasingly shaped one metre high and one metre wide.
The dark, shiny and serrated leaves are followed by large white flowers in spring and summer that blush to a pretty pink, but thatβs not surprising given the attention the pollinators give her. Flowers mature into bird-attracting blackberries – and then weβre back to flowers again!
This is a spot-on flowering hedge or screen, but it holds its own in a mixed garden border where it provides a classy backdrop to brightly coloured annuals.
This is a no-fuss frost-tolerant shrub that brightens the garden in return for a little baby care. Mulch roots and water regularly until they are established and youβll have a tough but beautiful year-round attraction.
