Mini Mondo / Dwarf Mondo Grass

Ophiopogon Japonicus Nana is commonly known as ‘Dwarf Mondo Grass’ or ‘Mini Mondo’. The name says it all because this is a dwarf version of the already low-growing Mondo Grass.

At 10cms tall Mini Mondo truly is a dwarf grass and makes an excellent ground cover for vertically challenged spaces such as beneath your car parking space, edging around paving slabs, along a pathway, or the corners of a container. You can walk over him if it’s a light foot traffic area and you DON’T HAVE TO MOW!

Dwarf Mondo Grass will grow in cute clumps of dark green foliage that you’ll just want to tickle and here’s the good part – it’s one of our ‘no-maintenance’ plants that’s drought hardy, frost hardy and requires no pruning. Just water Mini Mondo until he’s established and then leave him to his tiny devices.

• What to use me for: understory planting, pathway edging and low traffic footways suit me down to the ground. If you don’t walk on your lawn very often you can mass plant me instead of turf

• I grow to: A teeny-weeny little 10cms

• Where to place me:  I like full sun and partial shade

• How far to space me:  Give me 10cms of elbow room

• Soil Conditions: I’m not fussy, but I don’t like consistently damp waterlogged soils.
